Your Spanish home and Norwegian tax
Last checked on
Norway taxes your Spanish rent with a credit for the Spanish tax. The home also counts for wealth tax.
Spain may tax your home because it is in Spain. You file the Modelo 210 there every year. Your own country then makes sure you are not taxed twice on the same income.
If you rent the home out
- You declare the rent and claim a credit (kreditfradrag) for the Spanish tax.
- Do you also use the home yourself? Then only 85% of the rent above 15,000 kroner a year is taxed.
If you keep the home for yourself
- No income tax on your own use of the home.
Tax on what you own
- The home counts for wealth tax, normally at 30% of the purchase price or market value.
- Spanish wealth tax can be credited. IBI and Spanish non-resident tax cannot.
What this means for you
Check that the home is in your skattemelding with the right value, and claim the credit for Spanish tax there.
